With a deep commitment to improving mental healthcare, particularly in Nigeria, I am proud to introduce the Mental Health Roundtable (MHR) under the Nigerian Mental Health Practitioners USA, Inc. This quarterly program, set to launch its first edition in December 2021, will serve as a vital platform for discussing pressing issues in mental health and substance use disorders. The Mental Health Roundtable is designed as a virtual event, accessible through Zoom and broadcast across social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube, allowing us to reach a global audience.
The primary goal of the Mental Health Roundtable is to educate and inform the public about critical topics related to mental health and substance use. Through engaging panel discussions featuring experts in the field, the program will cover policies, laws, treatment options, and other essential subjects. This initiative aims to shed light on the challenges and opportunities within mental healthcare, particularly in regions like Nigeria, where access to care is limited.
