From May 25 to 30th, 2025, the Nigerian Mental Health Practitioners USA Inc. executed a five-day, all expense paid in-person training for community health workers in Imo State Nigeria, through our sister organization, the Nigeria-American Institute for Mental Health. Dr. (Mr.) Chioma Egu, the Hon. Commissioner of Health in Imo State, declared the training open. We are working to partner with other governors in Nigeria to replicate the program.
Our programs are designed to create a sustainable model for mental healthcare in Nigeria, where trained professionals can continue to educate others and provide care long after the initial training is complete. The goal is to establish a network of knowledgeable and compassionate providers and other paraprofessionals who can deliver high-quality mental health services throughout the country. Through this initiative, we are laying the groundwork for a future where mental health care is more accessible and effective for all Nigerians. By investing in the education and development of local healthcare providers, we are ensuring that the changes that we make are lasting and meaningful.
If you’re passionate about improving mental healthcare in Nigeria, consider supporting this program through donations or by spreading the word about our work.
